Dose of atypical antipsychotics for negative symptoms

If a schizophrenia patient exhibits predominantly negative symptoms (and confounders such as depression and extrapyramidal symptoms have been managed), in general, atypical antipsychotics should be used in lower doses (eg, 3 mg/day risperidone or 10 mg/day olanzapine)
